czech
prague in eight hours
3:16 PM
i arrived in prague on the 28th of october, the little capital city of czech greeted me with a cloudy sky.
but that was for me okay, as long as i didn't rain.
prague was pretty much quiet, at least when i arrived at 10 am that day. but it was nice to take photos without thousands of people around me.
after having a rather long break around the old town square, i headed to angelato, a gelateria recommended by my friend. the ice cream was awesome even in the cold day, and the waitress was also very friendly.
i wandered around the old town, walked pass million of lovely cafes for a while before i crossed the charles bridge to the other side of vltava river.
wait, wait, wait...why didn't i include a picture or two of the famous charles bridge? well, i did take some pictures of it, but it was too crowded and impossible to get beautiful photos while i was on the bridge like all those foggy charles bridge that can be seen on every postcard rack.

on the right side when i reached the other side of prague was this beautiful river bank occupied by a number of friendly swans being fed by the tourists.
i personally think the lesser quarter, the other side of the town where prague castle was, was a lot lovelier, livelier, and cosier than the old town side.
then prague started to give me a warm, sunny welcome
as i was walking uphill to the castle, i took a little break and bought this prague-speciality grilled sweet bread roll trdelnik with cinnamon and sugar. i made a little mistake by ordered it with almond because i didn't know what did it mean by almond. turned out it was probably almond meal (probably because i didn't see anything that looked like an almond as i expected to see) but it was a very small mistake since my trdelnik was still super tasty.
and when i reached prague castle, i understood why today seemed to be unusually quiet. it was an independent czechoslovak state day. there was a ceremony with army marching in front of the archbishop's palace and the entrance to prague castle was closed (fortunately only until around 1 pm)
well, and i tried to avoid going there on sunday because everything would be closed, that monday was no different from sunday. but in prague, however, almost all the shops were opened. the only problem i had that day was to find stamps in order to send some postcards, and i found some at a tobacco shop.
my second break was taken in a little cafe for a bowl of soup, and my third one was in a pub for a glass of cheap, famous czech beer.
the sunset on the clear blue sky was so romantically beautiful as i walked across the charles bridge back to the old square.
one of the reasons i kinda fell in love with prague was because, in comparison to brussels, the old square of prague was a lot more relaxing and less crowded than brussels. i had space to move around, take photos, sit and eat something, which was just a lot better than brussels.
the only thing that got on my nerves when i was in prague was the lack of english signs in combination with my inability to speak czech...in which later that night caused me to get lost and almost miss my train to dresden.
but even when i was panic trying to find my way back to the train station, i still had some time to cherish the city of prague being lit up in the night.
