i loved dresden, my favourite big city in germany.
and it was weird, the fact that i even loved dresden more than berlin.
but after asking myself and considering the question of why?, the answer came to my mind quite clearly.
because dresden was something i was waiting for, something i was working so hard to get, something i never thought i would have done.
in dresden, i was a traveller, a backpacker, an explorer.
not just a tourist like in berlin. which was probably why i really really wanted to go back to berlin again.
however, i intended to write about dresden in this post, and i could not keep on ranting about my berlin-regrets and things that weren't really relevant to dresden. so let's start with my favourite part of dresden...the aeussere neustadt.
no, it wasn't my most favourite part of dresden only because i found this super cute cat in one of the million brilliant bookstores. (though i had to admit, yes, it was a teeny tiny bit of the reasons)
but there was this café tiki when you walked through the kunsthof passage until you reach görlitzer street and then turn right. amazing 2 portions milkshake costed 4€ and they had the best icecream in town (my couchsurfing host suggested that, and i proved it. mango-basil icecream was just a perfect combination)
curry wurst at curry&co. my hosts told me their chips were the best, but i didn't try them (diet girl) instead, i got a currywurst with honey mustard sauce (just wanted to try something new) and it was nice!
kalte hund café, very very cozy place for a coffee/tea time. and the price was reasonable (according to the interior of this place)
the travel book shop, i found the idea so interesting. a shop filled with travel books! and these were not the only cool places in dresden neustadt, i bought some winter goods from shops around there (because i was so sick of h&m) and the night scenes there seemed to be ver appealing as well (too bad i didn't have a chance to experience...)
change the mood and back to dresden altstadt. even though the zwinger palace didn't exceed my expectation, the frauenkirche did, and dresden in general went beyond my expectation.
thanks to mummy and daddy for funding this trip ;) maggie and christian for their wonder hospitality and nice couch. this time i took a step further to my around-the-world-backpacker dream :)
