france
colmar—the best of alsace
3:17 PM
the day didn't start out very well. (but a lot better than the rainy strasbourg after all)
it was unfortunately a gloomy day and we were a bit lost. but finally we found a way into the middle of this cozy little town.
first of all, we took a small guide city-tour train around town, it took about half an hour and we got an idea of what colmar offered us.
located pretty close to both france and switzerland, i could see a lot of german-style fachwerkhause and the swiss colourful roof with french atmosphere (and food!) (and bakery!)
le petit venise—which was just like a better, more colourful and lovelier version of le petit france in strasbourg—was where i found the prettiest, but of course, quite touristy.

after the tour ended, we walked through the cosy city centre, had some hot chocolate with meringue in a small cafe
what i liked about france (or french cities i had visited) was the atmosphere and only the atmosphere (since all the architecture was kinda similar) (i probably had said the thing about french atmosphere and how there are cafes everywhere for a million times already, and that was how much i loved france and its language and its everything)
we entered the le petit venise area and decided to go on a little boat trip
even thought the only area that looked very good in photograph was this area, it was still impressive
we had a little tartes flambees for dinner. i went for the classic instead of double cheese, and i wasn't disappointed. not only it had less calories, but it also tasted better, and better than the one at strasbourg (thin, crispy, thin, cripy, fatty, yummy, yummy, yummy) and rose wine was also amazing (wine was actually not my glass of alcohol, but the rose wine for dinner that day was really good)

sitting by the little canal, the atmosphere also increased my appetite.
how sad i was, having to leave this french town, and a few days later this heart-warming family
