germany
one month in germany—what i have done and my observations
10:58 PM
so...i've already been here for a month, and so far it's surprisingly good (even i myself can't believe it would be this good)
walls in my village
here are what i have done so far in this one month
- went to school and luckily make some friends! (i thought friends would be harder to make)
- went to a disco with my sister, and got back home like half past two in the morning, with the smell of cigarettes all over my body
- went to a disco party in dancing school, surprisingly good and they have it every saturday
- danced with a boy (it was really new for me to be asked to go dance with a boy *blushed blushed*
- cooked thai food. and now i love cooking, because if i want thai food, i need to cook it myself, no one (namely my mum) can't do that for me anymore
- went to the black forest! it was very stunning
- went to a camp in pullach and had a lot of fun speaking english and meeting amazing people
- went to a german course (BORING. full of old people)
- shopped in Karlsruhe (sooooo good! everything i have ever wanted to buy in thailand, i found it all here. i was so broke that day.)
- went to stuttgart (shopping there was even better)
- went to heidelberg, it was a lovely town even in a bad weather, i must go there again!
- went to a birthday party at Sarah's, great food good music :)
- tried champagne, other alcoholic drinks and german beer! (which was very bitter)
- went over at Svenja's for film watching (her brother was hawt)
i think that's it for the last month, more to come this month for sure! as now i'm having easter break for two weeks :)
heidelberg
and here are my observations of germany during my first month here
- german food is very salty (i expected that)
- you can't go a day without bread
- german people are not that cold and unfriendly (not especially at parties and such)
- friends hug a lot (a lot more than thailand, this is not the case for my latin american friends)
- baguette here is seriously tasty
- don't expect your regional train to be on time, who said germans are very punctual?
- people throw rubbish and cigarettes on the ground
- winter (and snow) is very unpleasant and should be gone by now
- rules are rules and you do not break them
- and i'm lucky my house has no rules
- everybody speaks good english, but only 1% would speak english with me (nationalism?)
- and they watch films in german, even english films, they watch them dubbed
- you need to ask, or they won't tell, or they won't include you as a part of it, ask.
- train tickets are expensive
- 50% of girls (and boys) my age learn how to ballroom dance in the 'tanzschule' (dancing school)
- people don't judge what you wear
- everybody listens to radio (it's not thailand where you can illegally download music)
- CRO is good :)
