accommodation review: guesthouse sunna, reykjavik, iceland
1:18 PM
the room we had was a studio for 3 persons with private bathroom and kichenette for 19,600 ISK (120 euros) we had a comfy stay at this place for two nights in reykjavik.
the location was alright. it's right next to the famous church, hallsgrimkirkja. but you might want to note that it's a bit far from the city centre, though not too far too walk. we strolled twice or so down to the city centre, and the walks were pleasant ones. reyjavik was a tiny capital city anyway. there are quite a number of restaurants in the area, both for quick meal like pizzas and traditional icelandic food. there's also a small supermarket round the corner and bonus supermarket (a bigger and cheaper one) was not so far away from a walking distance.
our room was decent. the price is high, but not very much considering that it's iceland. my bed wasn't a sofa bed as i expected, which was nice. the kitchenette was well equipped with almost everything you'll need to cook a meal. (not the ingredients/seasonings though) our bathroom was small but clean. the only complaint we had was the smell of sulfur in tap water. it thought it would smell like that everywhere in iceland but it didn't. even when we stayed in the golden circle, it wasn't quite that smelly. the scent disappeared when you cook the water though.
the service was great. staffs were friendly, helpful and trustworthy (at least the ones we met) wifi was great in our room and there were two shelves for book swap, which was really cool. breakfast was not the best, but good enough. it has everything you would to stay full for the whole morning. plus not-so-delicious crepe which was made later after the breakfast started. i love their teas. breakfast also available earlier on request.
overall, our stay was a lovely one. though i might go for couchsurfing or airbnb for the next visit when i travel with friends or alone. this trip, it was not suitable as i was travelling with my family.
